SATSUMA + WHITE BIRCH + GINGER

YouthCare works to end youth homelessness and to ensure that young people are valued for who they are and empowered to achieve their potential.

Through a comprehensive range of services including early intervention, shelter, housing, education, and employment training, YouthCare ensures that young people experiencing homelessness have the hope, skills, and self-confidence to thrive. YouthCare works with over 1,500 young people each year at 16 locations throughout King County.

This candle and signature scent was created by a young person exiting homelessness who was inspired by the essence of home, rest, calm, and comfort.

ABOUT YOUTHCARE

YouthCare serves youth and young adults ages 12-25 with talents, dreams, aspirations, and endless potential! We work to ensure young people experiencing homelessness have the hope, skills, and self-confidence to achieve their dreams.

Our youth self-identified as black (35%), Latinx (17%), multiracial (14%), and white (24%). Over 30% of youth identify as LGBTQ, 36% are criminal justice involved, and 36% have experience with foster care. In 2020, YouthCare served over 1.100 youth and young adults during the shelter-in-place mandate.

Founded in 1974, YouthCare was one of the first shelters to serve runaway and homeless youth on the West Coast. The goal was to help young people find safety today and build a future for tomorrow. This passionate vision—where no young person experiences homelessness, all young people can thrive, and the systems that oppress them are dismantled—drives YouthCare every day. Over four decades, YouthCare has defined best practices and developed programs that set a national standard for excellence.

YouthCare’s programs are powered by four pillars of impact, including: housing systems of support, financial stability, and health & wellness. Each young person at YouthCare receives individualized, comprehensive care tailored to their unique needs and goals. Through comprehensive services, including early intervention, shelter, housing, education, and employment training, as well as a range of community partnerships, such as legal aid, mental and physical healthcare, and post-secondary support.
